On 22 September 2025, brethren from across the Eastern Area – and even beyond – gathered at Rochdale Masonic Hall for a truly special occasion: a Royal Arch Red Table event.

For those unfamiliar, the Royal Arch is often described as the completion of pure Antient Masonry. Many consider it the next step after becoming a Master Mason – the place where the genuine secrets of a Master Mason are revealed. The beautiful ceremony of Exaltation provides answers to questions left open in the Craft and elevates your Masonic journey to a deeper, more rewarding level.

The evening was hosted by Rochdale Lodge No. 6721 and organised by our Eastern Area APGP, E. Comp. Douglas Smith, with support from his dedicated Area Team. After the Lodge was opened and then closed, a magnificent banner parade filled the room with colour and symbolism, as Companions proudly carried banners representing the Twelve Tribes of Israel from each Chapter in the Eastern Area.

These banners were then raised to form a symbolic arch, beneath which the Three Principals – the Royal Arch equivalent of a Worshipful Master – and the Principal Sojourner processed in full regalia. It was a truly striking sight, displaying the splendour and tradition that make the Royal Arch unique.

Inspirational words followed from E. Comp. Andrew Procter, Third Provincial Grand Principal, before an engaging presentation delivered by E. Comp. Robert Whitlow (Royal Arch Area Officer), supported by E. Comp. Simon Rogers and Master Mason. Iliad Pirasteh. Their message was clear: the Royal Arch is open to all Master Masons ready to take the next step in their journey – and it has much to offer.

The evening concluded with a lively question-and-answer session, giving brethren the chance to learn more about joining, subscriptions, and meeting schedules. Afterwards, Lodge business resumed, and the Companions enjoyed a warm and welcoming Social Board filled with friendship, laughter, and brotherhood.

If you are a Craft Mason who has yet to experience the Royal Arch, we invite you to explore this critical and rewarding part of Freemasonry. It is often said that the Craft and Royal Arch are two halves of a whole – together, they complete the story.
