On Bank Holiday Monday 27th May, several volunteers representing the East Ribble District gave their time and braved the sunshine and showers (not so much of the first and more of the latter!) to deliver the Provincial trailer to the Great Harwood Agricultural Show, set up and present Freemasonry to the community..

The screens in the trailer showed a mix of images from many of the past volunteering and Masonic events whilst Lorraine provided free children’s face painting in a Warden’s chair. Unfortunately the inclement weather prevented the gazebo from being used this year but we’ll be back for the 153rd event next year.

The show is a fantastic event and extremely well organised by many. A main arena shows several displays throughout the day, there are competitions for cattle, sheep, dogs, pygmy goats, rabbits, poultry and horses. For the horses there are many different classes from heavy horses to Shetlands and show jumping. There’s also live music, a classic and vintage vehicle display (see the District Chairman taking shelter in Gordon Cornthwaite’s 1913 Scat), a fairground and lots for the whole family.

A big thank you to all the volunteers from East Ribble District who helped with this event. Here’s hoping for better weather next year.
