Unanimity Chapter No 4130 Installation and Celebration
On Tuesday, 14th October, Unanimity Chapter No 4130 held its Installation in the company of the Most Excellent Grand Superintendent EComp Robert Ian Frankl and a deputation of Provincial Officers.
EComp Allan Bennion PGSwdB PDepGSupt was installed as Z
EComp Gerry Hodson PGStB PAPGP was installed as H
EComp Steven Boyle PGStB APGP was installed as J
The ceremony was conducted by EComp Norman Clarke PGStB PAPGP, his officers, and the delivery was exemplary.
However, this was not all the business of the meeting. Arguably, the main part of the meeting was to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of EComp Dave Thompson PAGSoj P2ndProvGP in the Royal Arch.
This included reading out the letter from the Most Excellent Grand Superintendent congratulating Dave on his reaching this masonic milestone and presenting him with a certificate marking this achievement. The most important part of the celebration was a one-to-one dialogue between Dave and the Most Excellent Grand Superintendent, which covered Dave’s 50 years in the Royal Arch. It covered a wealth of events, his reasons for joining the Royal Arch, his involvement at the Chapter, Provincial and National level and particularly events during his time as a Provincial ruler in the Royal Arch, his mentors and role models and his influence on individuals whom he supported.
The Grand Superintendent then asked EComp Steven Boyle PGStB APGP to present Dave with a Royal Arch 50-year pin badge.
This was a wonderful afternoon, a superb ceremony, an insightful delving into a wonderful and well-loved mason’s past, and an exploration of 50 years of Royal Arch Freemasonry in East Lancashire.
Finally, a poignant part of the afternoon came when Dave, responding at the social board, explained that one of his mentors and close friends, Warwick Davenport, who was to have been one of Dave’s special guests that afternoon, had died the day before. Dave was visibly affected by this, as you would expect for such a caring and compassionate man. He was not alone.
