The 1st of December saw the annual East Ribble District Carol Service held at The Holy Trinity Free Church of England in Oswaldtwistle. The congregation of Brethren, friends and families were welcomed by District Secretary WBro Brian Derbyshire before the traditional service of 9 carols and lessons. The singing was enthusiastically delivered to the accompaniment of WBro Stephen Watson on the organ and with the help the excellent choir. The lessons punctuating the carols were read by members of the District Team and some special guests.
The Rev Don Johnson, in delivering the closing prayers, amazed the assembled with his explanation of the purpose of life and the answer to the why, who, what, when and where by using a very clever paper bag that just seemed to be bottomless in it’s contents.
Before departing everyone enjoyed a hot drink and a mince pie before exiting into a very cold and frosty Sunday evening.
