With a much smaller field than we usually have for this Prestigious Cup, first presented to the Society by Lord Derby himself in 1932, 21 players took to the course and, unlike last year’s cancellation due to bad weather and storms, we had total sunshine following the past 2 day’s record breaking UK weather.

After the golf, whilst drowning our sorrows or celebrating, we were honoured by the presence of our Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master, Robert Frankl, who circulated amongst all the Brethren.

We then sat down for dinner and later had the presentation with some good results however.

The runner up Mark Davis received second prize with 42 points, to the eventual winner, WBro Tony Wainwright of Concord Lodge No 1534, with 44 points.

The Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master then presented the Cup to WBro Wainwright, which he will receive officially at the Provincial Grand Lodge meeting in November.

The Chairman then addressed the Brethren encouraging all present to speak amongst the golfers about swelling our numbers for the future

The Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master addressed all present thanking the Society for making him President of the Society and also for the promise of a donation of £1000 to the Festival.

We look forward to more competitors next year.

G T Hodson

Chairman
