Who Are We?
The Lodge was originally called Blackburn Temperance Lodge No 7489 and met at Darwen Masonic Hall. On 9th September 1996 the Lodge was Rededicated as Whalley Arches Lodge No 7489 at a Ceremony held at Blackburn Masonic Hall. This Lodge was to meet during the daytime at Whalley Masonic Hall four times a year and was formed to cater for more elderly Brethren who did not wish to travel at night. In most recent times the Lodge has become increasingly popular with a large number of joining members travelling from all parts of the Province.
Why Join Us?
This is a very friendly Lodge and our meetings are fairly relaxed. The vast majority of the members are retired and greatly enjoy the unique atmosphere in the beautiful Lodge room at Whalley Masonic Hall. Lunch is a simple two course meal and Toasts are kept to a minimum. The members aim to enjoy themselves and aim to welcome the large number of guests who regularly attend. We believe that the Lodge has a vital and important role to play as a daytime lodge in the Northern Area.
WHEN WE MEET
The Lodge meets on the second Monday of March, June, September (Installation) and November usually at 10.30am followed by Lunch.
Practice meetings are held at 2.00pm on the preceding Monday except the Installation when Practices are held during the two preceding weeks, days to be determined taking into account the May Bank Holiday.
LODGE INFO
The Lodge holds no social events. The lunches after the Lodge meetings provide plenty of opportunity to socialise. It is also a custom in the Lodge to repair to one of the hostelries in Whalley after lunch to continue the fellowship.
The Lodge donates at least £500 per annum to good causes.
