WBro Gordon Hunter PProvSGW celebrated 50 years of service to Freemasonry on Monday the 15th of January in St Aidan Lodge No.6339. The celebration was led by the Assistant Provincial Grand Master WBro John Farrington PSGD, supported by his Lodge, Grand Lodge Officers, District Officers and his many friends, on what was a very enjoyable celebration of a special man.
Following an invitation from the Worshipful Master WBro Noel Kearns, The Assistant Provincial Grand Master took the Chair and introduced the Deputation, before asking the Lodge Secretary WBro David Allan to read the minutes from WBro Hunters initiation.
No better picture of Gordon could be given other than the wonderful tribute to his life and Masonic career which followed, delivered by WBro David Best. It is available in full here.
The Assistant Provincial Grand Master WBro Farrington, proceeded to give the assembled Brethren a picture of life in 1968 rounding off with the most pertinent point, the initiation of WBro Hunter. Having read a letter of congratulations from the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master Sir David Trippier and presented him personally with his illuminated Certificate, WBro Farrington invited the Lodge DC WBro Bob Allan, to perambulate Gordon around the Lodge to the acclaim of the Brethren.
At what was a very full Festive Board, WBro Hunter expressed his various thanks and gave all a small insight into what the night and his Masonic journey had meant to him over the last 50 years. The Lodge members then presented Gordon with a pair of inscribed Cufflinks, which was a small but fitting token of appreciation for a huge contribution.
