On Monday 3rd November, Anchor and Hope Lodge No.37 at Bolton Masonic Hall welcomed The Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master, Robert Frankl, accompanied by a distinguished Deputation of Provincial and Grand Lodge Officers, including the Very Worshipful Deputy Provincial Grand Master, John Griffin, and Assistant Provincial Grand Masters Peter Hegarty, David McGurty, John Curry, and Wes Marchant.

The principal purpose of the visit was to recognise WBro Ian Hunter for his service as Provincial Senior Grand Warden. As the highest Provincial Rank, the role carries considerable responsibility, and WBro Ian was formally thanked for his year in office and several in dedication within the Province.

The Worshipful Master, Mark Sutherland, then delivered a detailed presentation entitled “An Epitome of Certain Landmark Events in Freemasonry in East Lancashire in the 1820s.” The talk explored the Lodges of the Province at that time and where they are today. It also highlighted notable figures, including past Provincial Grand Masters. Members were clearly engaged, with the presentation prompting interest and discussion on the region’s rich Masonic history.

The evening concluded with a social board, where members enjoyed conversation and company in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere, rounding off a visit that was both memorable and meaningful for both the Lodge and WBro Hunter.
