Bolton Mountain Rescue keeping toasty after £1,000 grant from East Lancashire Freemasons. The money from the East Lancashire Masonic Charity will be used to purchase warm lightweight weatherproof clothing for use when in the field. Bolton Mountain Rescue primarily exist to provide a voluntary search and rescue service for the West Pennine Moors, such as searching for missing or injured hill walkers and people involved in mountain biking and climbing accidents.

Since 1968 Bolton Mountain Rescue have covered an area of over 800 square kilometres, from Darwen in the North to Manchester Airport in the South, Wigan to the West and the centre of Manchester to the East. They receive over 150 calls on their service each year.

Bob Findlay from East Lancashire Freemasons said, “We are delighted to have been able to provide this money and support such a worthy cause. Bolton Mountain Rescue are there for people in time of need, which is something that we, as Freemasons hold dear.”
