On Wednesday 15th February 2023 Bury Lodge of Relief No.42 celebrated the 50th Golden Jubilee for a very special member of the lodge.
WBro Peter Seddon, PProvJGW, is one of the iconic members of Bury Lodge of Relief and the evening was certainly a night to remember.
The Lodge tyled at 6.30pm
Bro David R Brown the current Worshipful Master of Bury Lodge Of Relief, opened the Lodge after which the Provincial Deputation entered. The Worshipful Master offered the gavel to the APGM WBro John A Griffin PSGD which he graciously accepted before occupying the chair to conduct this Golden Jubilee celebration.
The Lodge room was full, with members from many other Lodges in attendance, a real mark of the man of the moment.
The minutes from the meeting 50 years ago in which WBro Seddon was initiated were read out by the Assistant Lodge secretary, after which the Assistant Provincial Grand Master delivered a fitting tribute to WBro Seddon on his many years of service to Freemasonry, it was clear to see by everyone present that Peter had the respect of everyone in the Lodge room.
WBro Peter Watson then gave a very fitting personal tribute to Peter, it was clear to see they had formed a real bond of friendship over many years.
The 50th Golden Jubilee Illuminated Certificate was then read out by the Assistant Provincial Grand Master before being presented to Peter.
The Bury District Chairman WBro Stephen Holland then presented Peter with a special 50th Anniversary lapel badge.
WBro Seddon was then escorted around the lodge, by the Deputy Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies, to the acclamation of all the brethren.
The Worshipful Master then presented the Assistant Provincial Grand Master with a cheque, on behalf of the members of the lodge, to the 2026 Festival to mark the occasion.
The deputation retired and the Worshipful Master concluded the lodge business.
The social board was a very happy and joyous occasion the dining room was full with a most fabulous atmosphere, everyone present was treated to a fabulous 5 course meal by Fine Dine.
The formal toast to WBro Seddon’s health was proposed by WBro Barry Hughes, in a very personal manner and was received with warmth, after which several presentations from the Lodge to Peter took place.
WBro Seddon responded in a most suitable manner, at the conclusion of which he received a standing ovation by all present.
