In the journey of life, few commitments stand the test of time. Yet, in Freemasonry, we often find remarkable individuals whose devotion stretches across decades, symbolising the enduring values of brotherhood, service, and personal growth.

On a freezing icy Thursday 9th January 2025, Brothers of Arkscroll Lodge, visitors, come together to celebrate a monumental achievement— WBro Roger Bowers’ 50th anniversary and one week as a Mason.WBro Jon Berg who is also one of Rogers best friends took the chair for the evening and opened the Lodge in due form. Following a report, the Assistant Provincial Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies, entered the Lodge and announced that Paul O’Carroll, the Assistant Provincial Grand Master for the City East Area, was outside and demanded admission.

Once the Assistant Provincial Grand Master, accompanied by a City East Area Delegation, was seated, the Worshipful Master offered him the gavel, which he was delighted to accept on this occasion.

The Assistant Provincial Grand Master asked the Deputy Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies to place Roger in the centre of the lodge, where the Assistant Provincial Grand Master gave a tribute to Roger. Which also included a moving tribute to Roger by WBro David Basger.
Paul then presented a letter from the Provincial Grand Master before the Assistant Provincial Grand Master presented Roger with the certificate celebrating 50 years in Freemasonry.

Afterwards, the City East Area Deputy Chairman WBro Fraser Mullins presented Roger with his 50th Pin

He was conducted around the Lodge to receive the acclaim of the brethren he justly deserves.

The Lodge closed, and afterwards, there was an excellent social board, followed by the usual toasts.

A Half Century of Brotherhood
Fifty years is not merely a number; it represents a lifetime of dedication. Roger’s journey began five decades ago, in 1975 when he was initiated into the lodge by his father. he took his first step into the lodge, filled with curiosity and a desire to improve himself and serve others. Since that day, he has exemplified the virtues that Freemasonry holds dear: brotherly love, relief, and truth.
Over the years, he has witnessed the evolution of our fraternity, contributing his wisdom, kindness, and leadership to strengthen our bonds. His presence in our lodge has been a guiding light, offering mentorship to new members and inspiring all of us with his unwavering commitment to Masonic ideals.

A Legacy of Service
Throughout his 50 years in Masonry, our brother has not only participated in countless rituals and meetings, including initiating his son into freemasonry but has also embodied the spirit of charity and service. Whether through charitable work, leadership roles, or simply being a reliable presence in the lodge, he has shown that true Masonry extends beyond the walls of the temple.
His contributions have had a lasting impact on both the lodge and the wider community. From organizing events to supporting local causes, he has been a pillar of strength and a role model for what it means to be a Mason. His efforts have touched the lives of many, and his legacy will continue to inspire future generations of Masons.

The Symbolism of 50 Years
In Masonry, symbols carry deep meaning, and the number 50 is no exception. It represents not just the passage of time, but the culmination of experience, wisdom, and growth. Reaching this milestone is a testament to Roger’s perseverance and dedication to the Craft. It is a reminder to all of us that Masonry is not a sprint, but a lifelong journey of self-improvement and service to others.
Looking Ahead

As we honour our brother for his 50 years of service, we also look forward to many more years of his friendship and guidance. His journey is far from over, and we are fortunate to have him among us, continuing to enrich our lives with his presence and insights.
In conclusion, we extend our heartfelt congratulations and deepest gratitude to our brother for his remarkable achievement. May his next 50 years be filled with continued growth, joy, and fulfilment in the Craft. His dedication serves as an inspiration to us all, reminding us of the timeless values that unite us as Masons.

Let us celebrate this milestone with the same brotherly love that has guided him through the last half-century, and with the hope that his journey continues to inspire future generations of Masons to walk the same path.

To our brother—congratulations on 50 years in Masonry!
