On Thursday 18th April 2024, DeLacy Lodge No. 4591 celebrated their Centenary in the presence of the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master. Also in attendance was the Area Assistant Provincial Grand Master and a Provincial Delegation overseen by the Provincial Director of Ceremonies.

As is the norm at this sort of celebration, the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master will promote one of the members of the Lodge to a higher Provincial Rank. These promotions are always very exciting because the recipient doesn’t know that he is about to be promoted and the surprise can clearly be seen in their reaction. On this occasion, the Lodge Secretary Bill McGee, who had earlier delivered a history of the Lodge, was the recipient and he was absolutely delighted and left speechless.

There was another twist. As the Lodge was celebrating its Centenary, the Worshipful Master Andrew Ashton was celebrating his own half century – it was his 50th birthday on the day of the meeting.

Both Andrew and Bill have worked hard in recent years to get the Lodge to the healthy position it is in now. They had both obviously put a lot of effort into the night and everyone present appreciated what an excellent event it had been. The members are all looking forward to the next 100 years.
