There was a warm and welcoming atmosphere at Crompton Lodge 8879 on 23 September 2026, as the Lodge came together to celebrate an important milestone for Bro Wharmby and Bro Haslam, who were passed to the Second Degree of Freemasonry.
The ceremony was conducted by the Worshipful Master, WBro Taylor, who led the Brethren through an enjoyable and memorable evening. The work was supported by a number of Brethren who each played an important part in making the ceremony such a special occasion.
The Senior Deacon’s role, along with the explanation of the Working Tools, was ably carried out by Bro Ryan, who helped bring these important aspects of the Second Degree to life for the candidates.
The Charge was delivered by WBro Bostock, providing Bro Wharmby and Bro Haslam with an important and meaningful part of their Second Degree experience.
The evening was made even more special by the presence of visiting Brethren from Roch Valley, Werneth, Corinthian and Ben Brierley Lodges. Their support and fellowship added greatly to the occasion and reflected the strong bonds of friendship and companionship shared between Lodges.
For Bro Wharmby and Bro Haslam, being passed to the Second Degree represents another significant step in their Masonic journey. It was a pleasure for the Lodge to share this important occasion with them, surrounded by fellow Brethren, friends and visitors.
Following the ceremony, the Brethren enjoyed a convivial evening of good food, conversation and fellowship. The visiting Brethren were warmly welcomed, and their presence helped create the friendly atmosphere for which Lodge evenings are renowned.

A special congratulations goes to Bro Wharmby and Bro Haslam on their passing to the Second Degree, they conducted themselves in an excellent manner and had clearly learnt their questions and answers. Also a thank you to WBro Taylor, Bro Ryan, WBro Bostock for their respective contributions and all the other brethren that took part in the ceremony.
