Southern Area AProvGM and Area Chairman’s Sponsored walk In aid of the 2026 Festival Sunday 22 September

September 22, 2024 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

The Southern Area APGM WBro. The Revd. Canon Richard Hawkins and Area Chairman WBro Nigel Johnson are taking a sponsored walk In aid of the 2026 Festival on Sunday, 22 September 2024.

The walk is from Mossley Masonic Hall to Audenshaw Masonic Hall via the Canal (8.45 miles). Participants will meet at Mossley Hall at 10 a.m. and leave at 10:15 a.m.
The APGM and Area Chairman aim to raise at least £1,000 for the 2026 Festival, and they ask that everyone please take pity on them and help them make this a reality!
This is a joint effort, and it is hoped that every Lodge and Chapter in SA will feel able to sponsor the participants for at least £25 or more.
The APGM and Area Chairman would be delighted to be accompanied by other Masons/families/friends who would like to walk all or part of the way, and they are encouraged to seek their own additional sponsorship to add to the overall pot.
There is a fun quiz en route with a prize for each section and a prize for anyone who gets all the questions right. If there is more than one winner, a name will be drawn from a hat!
If you are joining, please be self-sufficient: Mobile phones and friends with cars to pick you up will be a great help! Everyone will need to be responsible for their own safety and well-being.
The walking is mostly by canal path, so it might be muddy. It is all downhill, with some steps and a few roads to cross. Good, comfortable walking shoes, weather-related clothing, and a stick may be of assistance.
The walk covers beautiful scenery (most of the way). Dave Williamson has volunteered to bring up the rear to ensure nobody is stranded on the canal.
If you are joining the walk or sponsoring please let the APGM, WBro The Revd. Canon Richard Hawkins, know by email, he will send copies of map extracts and the quiz.
