Year 6 Mock Trial Competition 2022

On the 24th of June, Hemsley House has been host to the Greater Manchester Magistrates Association Annual Magistrates’ Mock Trial competition for Year 6 students.

The competition involves the children acting out a trial in which they play all the major roles: Magistrates, legal professionals, defendants, witnesses, and any other participants. They will be supported by volunteer Magistrates from the Greater Manchester Magistrates Association.

Each team would comprise 8-10 students supported by their teacher. The competition provides an opportunity for the pupils to work as a team, demonstrate their abilities in verbal reasoning, as well as gain valuable experience and confidence in speaking in public.

All the children received a certificate of attendance, as well as prizes and trophies for the winning teams. There are also prizes for the Outstanding Individual Performance, Court Artist and Court Reporter entries.
