On Friday 16th May, the East Lancashire Uniformed Services Lodge No.8249 held its Installation meeting at Bury Masonic Hall, marking a very special occasion in the Lodge’s calendar.

Although the outgoing Master, WBro Dominic Beaver, was sadly unable to attend, the ceremony was in safe and familiar hands. WBro Paul Smillie, the Founding Master of the Lodge in its current form, returned to the Chair to install WBro Danny Cassidy. This added a wonderfully personal touch to the evening, as WBro Smillie also had the honour of installing WBro Cassidy when he first took the Chair many years ago – a moment of fond reflection for both brethren.

The Lodge was delighted to welcome the Assistant Provincial Grand Master for the Northern Area, WBro Dave McGurty. A personal friend of both the new Worshipful Master and the Installing Master, the Assistant Provincial Grand Master’s presence added further significance and camaraderie to the evening.

The ceremony itself was delivered with great warmth and precision, followed by an equally enjoyable Festive Board. The atmosphere throughout the night was one of genuine affection, tradition, and celebration – a truly fantastic evening for all who attended.
