WBro John Pearson APGM hands over the Centenary warrant to Mike Hurst, the Master of Kershaw Lodge.

WBro John Pearson is now our Past Assistant Provincial Grand Master, having relinquished his office at the Meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge on 21st November. However, just a few days before he retired, I was pleased to get the opportunity to accompany John on his final official visit to a Lodge in Ashton & Mossley District. The occasion which gave rise to this visit was his wish to present the Centenary Warrant to Kershaw Lodge No 3838. After all, John, accompanied by a delegation of Provincial and District Officers had been in attendance at Kershaw Lodge to celebrate their actual Centenary in 2018.

Kershaw Lodge was one of those rarities that were first Consecrated as a Masonic Lodge during the dark days of World War I, 16th May 1918 to be precise, a fact that we noted at the original event. On 12th November 2019 we had a very different focus, that of seeing the actual Centenary Warrant being given over by WBro Pearson into the safe keeping of Kershaw Lodge’s Worshipful Master, Bro Michael Hurst JP, PProvSGD. It was a very simple, but quite moving ceremony and one which all of us who were there enjoyed immensely.

Afterwards the Social Board took the format of an Olde English Night and, though I was not able to stay for this part of the evening, I understand that it was a very memorable event. So let us all wish long and continued success to Kershaw Lodge No 3838 and another hundred years of success at the very least.
