Who Are We?

“We were formed on 26th September 1894 and met at the Whalley Arms in Whalley (now the Co-op shop) until 1897 until we moved to the Union Club where we have met ever since. Originally the members were local gentlemen of whom many were also members of Whalley Golf Club. The link with the Golf Club continues as we hold our annual Installation Meeting Dinner in May and the Postlethwaite Dinner in December.
The Lodge room is unique and purpose build and accommodates a maximum of 50 making an intimate atmosphere in what is considered Whalley’s little gem.We consider ourselves as a family lodge and offer a welcome to all. In short is a Lodge that takes the ritual and charity fund raising seriously but we are insistent that every meeting is enjoyable, making every member want to come back to the next meeting.

Why Join Us?

“In our Lodge we have a wide range of people, professions, interests and age groups, which makes up a diverse Membership structure. From young professionals, veteran Armed Forces members, small business owners, retired men and everything in between!

We have a supportive, engaged and enthusiastic Membership of over 30 with age ranges traditionally from 25 to 80. Our regular social schedule suits a wide range of potential candidates to Freemasonry.”

WHEN WE MEET

We meet on the second Thursday of the month from October to May, with May being the Installation month and where a new Worshipful Master and Officers are Installed. With certain exceptions we start proceedings at 7.30pm which gives members time to go home from work and arrive at the Lodge ready for a good meeting followed by dinner. Practices are held on the two Mondays before the meeting.

LODGE INFO

“We have a range of social activities across the year, ranging from black tie dinners to casual socials including wine & cheese evenings, sherry mornings and pub games where partners, children and grandchildren are welcome.
We have a charity clay pigeon shoot each year where many thousands of pounds have been raised for Masonic and non-Masonic charities. Prime benefactors are the Guide Dogs for the Blind and the Riding for the Disabled amongst others.
Over the years support has been given locally to the Scouts, Whalley Parish Church, sponsorship of young people and members who support individual charities.
