Who Are We?

The Ardwick Lodge No 2185 came into being on 14th March 1887 with 14 founding members being present and celebrated a major landmark in its history – its Centenary on 14th March 1987 with a Festival being held on 15th April 1987 at the Masonic Temple located on Bridge Street in Manchester to acknowledge this milestone.

The Ardwick Lodge is part of what was known as the Caledonian Family with the Caledonian Lodge No 204, which was consecrated in 1802, being the Grandmother Lodge of The Ardwick Lodge.

From The Ardwick Lodge a number of other Lodges were established i.e. Fraternity Lodge 4315 in 1922, Service Lodge No 5412 in 1933 and the Elizabethan Lodge No 7286 in 1953. We also have attached to the Lodge The Ardwick Chapter No 2185, The Ardwick Lodge of Mark Master Masons No 1222 and the Ardwick Lodge of Royal Ark Mariner No 1222.

Whilst a small Lodge, having 9 members, it is a happy, friendly and generous Lodge.

Why Join Us?

A warm fraternal welcome is extended to all who attend our meetings. The business in Lodge is conducted in a relaxed manner and the ritual is performed with the dignity it deserves. An item of masonic interest is included within every meeting, be it a talk, lecture or a ceremony. The festive boards, whilst observing formal toasts, are happy, relaxed and vibrant. The Lodge is proud to enjoy the company of many visitors who regularly return having enjoyed their visits.

The experience of the members within the lodge ensures that new candidates are given the appropriate guidance with all members willing to assist, ensuring that proficient progress through the offices is available.

WHEN WE MEET

We have 6 Lodge meetings each year, which usually commence between 6pm and 6:30pm. The meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday evenings in March, (which is the Installation Meeting when a new Master for the Season is installed and on this evening we may start around 5pm), April, October, November, January and February. On the 2nd Tuesday evenings of these months, we may arrange to meet for a Rehearsal meeting to prepare for the Lodge meeting on the following Tuesday.

In 2025 the Lodge, following discussions, agreed to work with one of its Daughter Lodges, Fraternity 4315, who meet at the same venue and on the same evening as Ardwick. In reality this initiative has meant that we have the pleasure of witnessing, and being present, at 2 Lodge meetings on the same evening, and afterwards both go and enjoy a 3-course meal together in what we refer to as a Social Board which will finish around 10pm.

LODGE INFO

The Lodge arranges a number of social events each year at which brethren of the Lodge, and their family members, and non-masonic friends, enjoy weekends away in each others’ company. This has been happening for many years and has proved popular with members of other Lodges who also join us with their family members.

At these weekends raffles are held to raise funds which are donated to good causes and thanks to the generosity of members and visitors who attend has enabled several good causes to benefit including, but not limited to, foodbanks, Teenage Cancer, DEBRA, Mental Health Support.
