Denton Lodge – 5234

Who Are We?

“Denton Lodge was conceived in 1931 when several Masons, wishing to further their Masonic Knowledge, joined together to form a new lodge. In accordance with our Constitution, the existing Lodge that sponsored our formation was The Duke of Athol Lodge No.210, and they and the founding members then forwarded a petition to the Most Worshipful Grand Master for the formation of the lodge.

The main focus of our Lodge is friendship and companionship. The age range of our members is from 20 to 82 years old. Our youngest member is a young man with cerebral palsy, Brandon Gee and our oldest happens to be his grandfather, Harvey Taylor, who is 82. Our members hail from a wide range of occupations – we have gardeners, butchers, retired police officers, a publican, a retired nursing home proprietor, transport managers, male nurses, a retired accountant and ex forces personnel. We also have 4 honorary members.

Across our membership, we have a wide range of Masonic experience, from recent initiates into Freemasonry, through a number of members yet to become “Worshipful Master” and to members with many years of experience who have attained offices within the Province of East Lancashire.
We are more than happy to welcome existing Freemasons as “Joining Members” as well as Initiates.

Our aims for the future are to retain or improve the number of members whilst maintaining the quality of the Lodge and continue to be a friendly and fun Lodge which we hope will attract both new members and visitors.

We are active in raising money for charity and helping the local community where possible.
After each meeting, we hold a social board, where we all get to sit down and enjoy a nice meal together. This is a chance to catch up with both old and new friends.
Throughout the year we hold various events, such as Ladies’ evenings, Quiz nights, Christmas parties for the children and just social get-togethers in general, all to raise funds for good causes.
