Who Are We?

The Lodge was consecrated in July 1872. Egerton’s mother Lodge is Bury Lodge of Relief No 42, from where most of the founders came.

The Lodge currently has 38 members, including 1 honorary member. These members have a wide range of backgrounds, but it is probably fair to say that the majority of members are or did work in trades, though there are a number of members in ‘white collar’ jobs.

The lodge has a lively social board and there is plenty of banter, but it treats the ceremonial side of Freemasonry seriously and takes pride in the quality of the ceremonies it performs.

The Lodge regularly organises social events, including an annual ladies night and other events such as a trip to Cartmel Races for example.

Egerton is very welcoming of new members and does try to ensure those that join are assisted in settling into the Lodge quickly.

Why Join Us?

Egerton is a sizable Lodge with good future ahead of it. It is also a welcoming Lodge and is always open to new members irrespective of whether they are known to existing members or not. Above all, it is a Lodge where you can have fun evenings amongst great friends.

WHEN WE MEET

Egerton meets on the 4th Thursday September to April, except for the December meeting which is on the 3rd Friday.

LODGE INFO

The Lodge holds regular social events. The main one is the annual ladies’ night, but there are usually at least two other social events in the masonic year.

The Lodge is a large donator to the 2026 Festival and was made a Grand Patron in 2022. It has also relatedly been made a Vice Patron of the Masonic Charitable Foundation.

Individual
members have undertaken sponsored walks in the last few years for either masonic or non-masonic causes, which is always well supported by the other Lodge Members.
