Who Are We?

The Lodge was consecrated on 22nd October 1959 at the Masonic Temple on Bridge Street, Manchester. The first meeting of the Lodge was held at the Trough House which was just across the road from Stanley House, which of course was not a Masonic Hall at that time.

At the moment we have 12 lodge members and the present subscription fee is £185.00 per member; we currently hold 6 meetings per year.

We aim to either have a lecture or a paper presented at all of the meetings, either from a lodge member or a visitor.

It is a very mixed membership i.e., some members are very successful hotel/businessmen and others are professional tradesmen, whilst some are retired businessmen. As the age profile of the lodge is quite high, most of the members friends are already masons so the social aspect of bringing new members in is highly unlikely. However, Gorton Lodge is a very friendly lodge and we would consider any candidate who may be presented to us.

Why Join Us?

In the Lodge, we strive for a good standard of work; we endeavour to have a paper or lecture at each meeting, e.g. masonic history, presentations etc. with a view to making the meetings interesting.
We run our social boards with plenty of singing to the toasts – all part and parcel of our aim to always be a ‘fun’ lodge.
