Lodge of Harmony and Industry – 381

Who Are We?

Harmony and Industry is one of the oldest lodges in the Province. It was Consecrated on the 28th May 1825 and initially met at the Greenway Arms Inn, Over Darwen. The Lodge has met in several places in the town during its almost 200 year history, moving to the present premises at Hawkshaw Avenue in 1967.

The Lodge has had the distinction of having amongst its previous members holders of some of the highest awards for gallantry in the Country. Lieutenant Graham Thompson Lyell – Victoria Cross in 1918, Capt. James Arthur Reeves – Albert Medal (later redesignated the George Cross) in September 1942 and Pilot Officer Norman Hebden -the Distinguished Flying Cross in January 1945. It is a thriving lodge which welcomes people from all walks of life.

Why Join Us?

“There are many reasons to join the lodge. Four are shown below:-

1. Comradery – The members of the lodge come from all backgrounds and professions. There are serving and ex forces, Police, Fire Brigade, judges, mechanics, business owners, public servants, retired professionals and care workers. All are welcome and all are treated equally.
2. Belonging – All the members are part of the lodge, and all are as important to the lodge as each other.
3. Helping others – The lodge aims to help those within the community who need it by providing support and funds where needed.
4. Socialising – spending time with like minded people who value you just for being you.”

WHEN WE MEET

The lodge meets on Thursday evenings for practices fat 19:30 from mid August to June and holds a lodge Night on the Second Thursday between September and June at 19:00.

LODGE INFO

The lodge holds several social activities throughout the year from Sunday lunches to formal Ladies nights. These are designed to include and thank partners for their support. The lodge started a Saturday Breakfast Club and this is now attended by members from several lodges. The lodge is very active in raising money for charity and in providing volunteers for events both masonic and local community ones which require support.
