Lodge of Perseverance – 345

Who Are We?

The Lodge of Perseverance started life in 1815 in Blackburn and is the oldest Blackburn Lodge still in existence. Over the years meetings were held in various pubs and hotels before eventually moving to Blackburn Masonic Hall on Richmond Terrace. When the hall was sold in November 2022, we decided to move to our current home in Darwen. We are a friendly Lodge which takes pride in being welcoming to our visitors, in our volunteering activities and the quality of the ritual at our meetings.

Why Join Us?

As a Lodge we are welcoming and friendly to new members and guests alike and have a number of regular visitors.
We vary widely in age, profession and Masonic experience. We have an active group of newer members who are keenly taking their first steps in Freemasonry supported by our longer serving Brethren, some of whom have over 40 and even 50 years Masonic service. All Brethren are encouraged to take an active part in all we do as a Lodge.

We encourage and enable our Brethren to widen their Masonic experience by visiting other Lodges, by volunteering in support of Masonic and non-masonic charities and by getting actively involved with Provincial and Area events, for which we are well known.

WHEN WE MEET

Meetings are held from September to May inclusive, normally on the third Thursday of the month except in March and November when they are held on the previous Tuesday to avoid clashing with Provincial meetings, which lodge members always support. Practices are held on the Tuesday before the meeting and the Tuesday of the preceding week. Our Installation meeting is in December.

LODGE INFO

In addition to charitable fundraising within the Lodge, we pride ourselves on being a ‘Volunteering’ Lodge and are well known for it. Many of our members not only volunteer in support of Masonic charitable endeavours, but also outside Freemasonry for the Scouts, sports clubs, the local hospice and other charities. Additionally, we have several members who are active in organising activities at Area and Provincial level which allows many of our brethren to get further involved.
The Lodge has a good social calendar with a ‘Sunday Lunch’ held in October and a Crown Green Bowling Day held in July. These are well attended by the Lodge members, their partners, friends and Masons from other Lodges.
