Lodge of Tranquility with Hospitality – 274

Who Are We?

Founded in the year 1789. We are 235 years in the making and 15 years from our
Semi quincentennial (250 years)
Although working to the standard emulation ritual we do have unique aspects to our ceremonies especially the installation of our WM. Which takes place on the first Saturday in December at 14:30 hrs
We still retain the original jewels from our consecration and our Tyler’s uniform. We also have a Master’s chair which we bring out at the installation which adds to the pageantry.
Our warrant, centenary warrant and bi centenary warrant and certificate of amalgamation are on display at every meeting.
We pride ourselves on being a friendly lodge, although passionate about our history and our ritual we encourage each member to progress (or not) at their own pace.
Our festive boards have received compliments from far and wide including international recognition and our installation dining known as the festival of St John has to be experienced to be truly appreciated.

Why Join Us?

As the oldest lodge in the area TwithH has a unique blend of history and modernity.
This forward-looking lodge positively encourages men, with a due regard for our fore bearers, but with a strong desire to look to the future of Freemasonry in a modern age. This is evidenced by a continuous policy of encouraging new members to be involved, from the very day of their initiation, into the running and of the lodge and its place in the community.

WHEN WE MEET

We meet on the first Monday of Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr and May. If the Monday happens to be a Bank holiday, then the meeting is moved to the Friday of that week without dispensation. There is a summer break until our Sept meeting followed by Oct and November. The practices take place on the first and third Wednesday of our months with a meeting.
Meetings are at 19:00 and practices at 19:30
Installation is the first Saturday of December and starts at 14:30.

LODGE INFO

We support numerous local charities as well as supporting the provincial festival. One of our members runs a scout troop and we support them throughout the year.
At our installation it is customary to give the outgoing master 3 cheques for the amount of £274.00 for him to disperse to good causes as he sees fit ,i.e. local food bank, sea cadets, walking with the wounded, Bacup and Stacksteads carnival, to name just a few we collect alms at every meeting and hold a raffle at the social board at every meeting for good causes.
