Who Are We?

“St Aidan Lodge was consecrated on the 26th of September1946. It is the daughter Lodge of King Oswald Lodge who at the time met at The Holy Trinity Church Oswaldtwistle. The name St Aidan was chosen because Aidan was a Monk on the Island of Iona and an accomplice of King Oswald, since King Oswald Lodge was the sponsoring Lodge the name St Aidan was adopted. The Crest chosen for the Lodge bears the motto via Crucis via Lucis – “the way of the cross is the way of the light”. In 1955 the four Lodges meeting at Holy Trinity Church acquired a building in Albert Strret Oswaldtwistle and subsequently met there. In 1969 Albert Edward Lodge acquired Mill House Clayton Le Moors and converted it into a Masonic Hall.
In 1971 the Members of St Aidan Lodge decided to leave Oswaldtwistle and moved to Mill House where they still meet to this day.”
