Who Are We?

Membership is drawn from all levels of Society – from stockbrokers to bus drivers – and we pride ourselves on being open to everyone. Freemasonry being such a great leveller, we take great pleasure in having Members from all walks of life. We are more relaxed than most Craft Lodges – we don’t wear medals or collect alms and we refrain from formal processions. However, this reduced formality does not in any way impact on the high standards that we maintain. St. George’s Lodge is a safe environment for self-development, inspiring confidence both in and out of the Lodge Room. Perhaps most importantly, St. George’s is a happy Lodge.

Why Join Us?

We are currently 21 Active and 3 Honorary Members. Apart from one Brother who lives in Australia, the other 23 Members try to be present. Our average attendance, excluding Guests, is about 16. The Organist is an Honorary Member. The Master, Senior & Junior Wardens, the Senior & Junior Deacons and Inner Guard are currently Light Blues (and will be again in 2025/26).

Our Membership has an average age of 60, much younger than some Lodges admittedly, but we are hoping that our younger Brethren will start to bring in their friends and colleagues. We currently have 1 Craftsman awaiting his Raising Ceremony (in April 2025).

WHEN WE MEET

The Lodge meets 5 times per year – on the third Monday of October, November, December, February and April. St. George’s Lodge Masonic Year starts in October,

LODGE INFO

we invite non-Masons – often potential candidates – to the Social Board. This is a great opportunity for the candidates – and the Brethren of the Lodge – to meet each other before joining, thus ensuring that the “fit” is right.
