Initiated into his Father-in-Law’s Lodge Boltonian 3716 in November 1966, being installed as Master in 1978 becoming ADC 3 years later, a post he held until the forming of Orlando Lodge in 1985. In Orlando, Hugh was DC for 5 years before becoming Secretary. Hugh was also Petitioning Secretary for Euclid, the past master’s Lodge becoming Secretary on consecration.

As well as the normal range of work in the Craft, High was lucky enough to be able to merge his profession of art restoration and was also Curator for PGLEL and assistant Curator at UGLE
Hugh has also been involved in 3747 the provincial Grand Officers Lodge, the Grand Officers Lodge and the Masonic Research Lodge.

Over his 50 years, Hugh has concentrated on extending the influence of the Craft and has enjoyed every moment of his long and illustrious career.

He now spends much time quietly, sagely guiding younger and more junior brothers and I certainly am 1 in this room who has benefitted from his guidance.

Quietly spoken, he has been a friend and a brother to many and is someone who thoroughly deserves this 50th anniversary accolade.
