The new Provincial recruitment and presentation trailer made its inaugural outing at the 2016 Great Harwood Agricultural show on a wonderfully sunny and warm Spring Bank Holiday. The show was enjoyed by a crowd of thousands, which must have easily exceeded the 10,000 from 2015.
Following a pre event delivery of the trailer on the Sunday with Bro Ian Ferrier and WBro Keith Jackson, East Ribble District Chairman WBro David Lightbown PAGDC was again on site at 6am setting up to ensure the team could get straight on with the task at hand from 8am onwards, interacting with public and providing hot and cold drinks to our visitors!
WBro’s Bruce Pollard PProvAGDC, David Gill ProvAGDC and Russell Harwood spent the day charming and talking with local men and their wives and partners, included two prospective new brethren and three Freemasons who had recently moved into the area and we’re looking for new Masonic homes.
Free children’s face painting was provided in the adjoining gazebo, (very kindly arranged by WBro Peter Dean) which also gave Dads a chance to stop and talk with us.
We were of course visited by many interested community partners, Freemasons and their families, who all seemed to be suitable impressed by our new Provincial recruitment tool. A morning visit by Assistant Provincial Grand Master WBro JohnFarrington PSGD on his first viewing of the trailer was also welcome surprise for our volunteer team.
After a long day drew to a close around 5pm, the team packed away the trailer, gazebo and all of the equipment, which was then taken by WBro Keith Jackson to its new storage home at Whitfords Caravan Centre in Burnley. A worthwhile and potentially successful day for East Ribble Freemasonry in the community.
