On Friday 7th October, a warm invitation was extended to Rochdale District Freemasons with Mayor Ali Ahmed, Consort Sultan Ali, and MP Tony Lloyd, to the opening of Rochdale Foodbank’s new home at Newgate. To mark ten years of dedicated public service by their wonderful volunteers, a Mayoral Commendation was presented.

Chair of trustees Steve Field opened the gathering with a warm welcome and recognised the tremendous support the Foodbank has received from several diverse Rochdale organisations, without whom the fine new Foodbank would not have been possible.

Whilst there, District Chairman Douglas Smith and District Charity Steward John Taylor were pleased to hand over a cheque for £250 on behalf of Rochdale District Freemasons. Throughout the pandemic, Rochdale District Freemasons have supported the Foodbank through the Miles More Food initiative, donating 4 miles worth of much needed provisions.
