Walkers from all over the Province met at Hewlett Court on Sunday, September 29th, with their walking boots laced up at the ready to take on the Walk the Province event 2024. PGM Robert Frankl joined them on the walk to raise money for the EL Festival 2026 and the Masonic Charitable Foundation!

A choice of 2 walks was given to the 125 participants – the 7-mile ‘Summerseat Stride’, a beautiful scenic route in the countryside down through Summerseat and Burrs Country Park leading to Bury Masonic Hall to meet walkers taking on the 3.5 mile ‘Bury Ramble’ setting off from Bury Masonic Hall through the town centre then heading down the Kirklees Trail through Brandlesholme, Tottington and Greenmount to arrive back at Hewlett Court.

Walkers were cheered on as they crossed the finish line at Hewlett Court, and a celebratory BBQ and bar, along with goodie bags for their triumph, was waiting for them! PGM Robert gave a celebratory speech and congratulated all the walkers for their momentous efforts and for coming together with friends and family for a good cause. Those in attendance were able to enter the raffle for a hamper—well done to Nigel Gibson, who won!

Chairman of the Fundraising Committee Steve Thomson and members of the Committee who organised the enjoyable event were overwhelmed by the support and generosity of volunteers and participants. They thank everyone for their immense support in making the event a resounding success.

Congratulations to Eastern Area for having the highest number of walkers taking part, 40 in total, and therefore winning the Galvin’s Gallon—Part 2 incentive to increase walkers within each area of the Province to raise funds.

A big well done to the Southern Area, which participated in its own area walk on Sunday, September 22nd, to raise money for the EL Festival 2026 and the Masonic Charitable Foundation.
