On Saturday evening 25th January over 80 Brethren, partners, family and friends gathered at
Mill House Masonic Hall in Clayton-le-Moors for the second Food Bingo evening to be held at the District Winter draw.
This very popular evening saw everyone, with their dabbers in hand, enjoy 10 games of bingo with a variety of food based prizes for a single line, two lines with a full house providing Sunday Lunch on the following day. The caller for the evening was the Bingo King himself David Bristol, who kept the evening flowing smoothly and on time, even managing to keep a very chatty Tom Pearson in line!
After six games, a short break enabled everyone to enjoy a pie and pea supper before the numerous raffle prizes were drawn. The full list of winners will be added to this report once they have been collated. Also during the interlude, our District Chairman Dave McGurty presented a cheque to Julie Ward, Director of our own Provincial Charity the ELMC to the value of £750. A presentation of £250 Was made to David & Janet Bristol, in support of Rosemere Cancer Foundation, a cause very close to both their hearts.
He concluded by thanking everyone involved in the evening, particularly our newly appointed District Charity Steward Malcolm Roe for all of his efforts, and by reporting that the evening and the raffle raised over £1700 overall for good causes.
It was then ‘eyes down and look in’ once again for the remaining games of Bingo before the assembled said their goodbyes and departed. A wonderful evening and a very popular event once again. Well done and thanks to all who helped on the night and donated the raffle prizes.
