This summer saw Ashton Masonic Hall host two fantastic fundraising events, as reported by the hall’s secretary, WBro Alex Miller. The first event featured an evening of whisky and wine tasting, led by WBro Mark Reader, accompanied by a splendid buffet.

Following that, a second event offered guests a self-service Mediterranean-themed buffet with gin tasting alongside casual entertainment. Loud shirts were optional, but fun was guaranteed! In total, these events raised over £1,200 to support the ongoing maintenance of the hall.

In addition to the fundraising efforts, the hall has generated further income by being hired out by a TV production company for filming Waterloo Road. This partnership has significantly contributed to the hall’s financial future.

Sadly, the hall community lost a valued member, WBro Alan Smith, a former chairman, who passed to the Grand Lodge Above in August this year. His contributions will be fondly remembered by all.

On the improvement front, several upgrades have been made to the hall. New kitchen doors have been installed, and some redecorating has been completed. The card reader at the bar has been updated, and work on the gardens is ongoing. The air conditioning has been serviced, and the thrones upstairs have been reupholstered with fresh leather arms. Looking ahead, replacement fire doors are set to be installed in the banqueting suite soon.

And perhaps the most exciting news for some—the beer cellar has also seen some much-needed upgrades!

Ashton Masonic Hall continues to move forward with these enhancements, ensuring it remains a cherished venue for all.
