Twenty Seven Brethren, including the Assistant Provincial Grand Master for the Northern Area, WBro John Farrington, PSGD and WBro Paul Thornton, PAGDC, District Chairman of Burnley and Pendle District, welcomed five guests to Royal Lancashire Lodge,116, at their White Table Event of Thursday 5th October.

Following the preliminary work of the Lodge, the Lodge was called off and the guest were invited into the Lodge by the Deputy District Chairman, WBro Bob Allan, PProvGSuptWks, accompanied by several Lodge membership officers. WBro Paul Thornton welcomed the guests on behalf of the Worshipful Master of Royal Lancashire Lodge, WBro Steven Rothwell, PProvSGD.
There followed an illustrated presentation on the history, aims and relationships of the Craft, it’s charitable works, and hopefully dispelled some of the more common myths associated with Freemasonry, which was presented by the District Communications Officer for Burnley and Pendle District, WBro John Wilkinson, PProvSGD.
The presentation elicited some interesting questions which were ably answered by several of the Brethren present. The guests then retired from the Lodge with WBro Bob Allan and the Membership Officers who continued to answer many questions in the bar.
The lively debate continued at the festive board where all present were treated to the usual excellent fayre provided by Royal Lancashire Lodge.
The evening proved to be a great success and several of the guests expressed an interest in finding out more about Freemasonry and the Lodges that meet in Colne. It was a very worthwhile exercise and the Burnley and Pendle District is grateful to Royal Lancashire Lodge for acting as hosts on this occasion.
