Bury District Freemasons Ian Schofield and Steve Clark recently visited Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary which is situated on the moors to the North of Bury.  Ian, who is a member of Cribden Lodge, is a councillor for the ward in which Bleakholt is situated.
When he heard that the Sanctuary needed funds to upgrade the Donkey Stables, Ian made a successful application to the ELMC for funding to be able to improve the donkey enclosure by renewing the fencing and upgrading the display boards.  The photo shows a four legged resident of Bleakholt called Fergal, Stuart Murray (operations manager at Bleakholt), Steve Clark (charity steward for Bury District), the Mayor of Bury Cllr Dorothy Gunther, the Mayor’s Consort Michael Gunther, and Cllr Ian Schofield.
A cheque for £2,000 was delivered by Steve Clark, Bury District’s Charity Steward, and received by the Mayor of Bury, Cllr Dorothy Gunther.  Bleakholt is one of the three major charities that form a part of the Mayoral Charity Appeal during her year in office.
Fergal is looking forward to the work being completed in the spring of next year.
