The Assistant Provincial Grand Master, WBro Wesley Marchant PJGD, accompanied by a Southern Area Delegation, was admitted to Waverley Lodge on Thursday, 24th September. This was his first official visit since his recent appointment.
The primary focus of the evening was the installation of WBro Bradley John Savidge ProvJGD as the new Master of Waverley Lodge. The Master of the Lodge, WBro Andrew Morris, extended a warm welcome to the APGM and his team. The Master of the Lodge, WBro Andrew Morris, offered the gavel to the APGM; on this occasion, the APGM declined to accept it.
Every year, there are numerous events within a Lodge when an Assistant Provincial Grand Master may visit.
It is customary that at significant events within the Lodge, either a representative of the Provincial Grand Master or one of his assistants visits. Each of the six areas within East Lancashire has its own Assistant Provincial Grand Master, when they attend events in their area, distinct from representatives, it is with the same responsibilities that the Provincial Grand Master has to his province. Such visits by Assistant Provincial Grand Masters are a regular occurrence throughout East Lancashire, serving to strengthen the bonds between Lodges and the Provincial Grand Lodge.
Each time the APGM visits a Lodge, it is notable for them, and on this occasion, it was special for WBro Wes Marchant as it was his first official visit. The APGM had represented the Provincial Grand Master on many previous occasions, but on this visit, he was there in his own right. This special occasion was undoubtedly memorable for both the APGM and the members of Waverley Lodge, as evidenced by the convivial atmosphere at the subsequent social board.
After the APGM gave his response to the toasts, the newly installed Worshipful Master presented a Lodge Past Master’s jewel to his predecessor, WBro Andrew Morris.
