The Area has recently been pleased to support a number of charitable initiatives, demonstrating the continued commitment of Brethren to their local communities.

Following a successful grant application, Bury R.U.F.C. Under 13s received funding for a new team kit. Representatives were invited to attend the Chairman’s Lunch at Bury R.U.F.C., where the grant support was acknowledged. Present were Christopher Caloe, President and Paul Kyle, Chairman. The grant replaced the team’s previously mismatched kit and was warmly received.

On Saturday 13th December, the Under 13s team visited Hewlett Court, where they sang Christmas carols to the residents and presented them with gifts as a gesture of thanks for the support they had received. The visit was very well received, with residents particularly enjoying the time spent talking and engaging with the young people. Kerry Fowler, Under 13s Team Coordinator, also expressed her thanks for the assistance provided throughout the grant application process.

In a separate initiative, a visit was made to Bolton A&E Children’s Department, where soft toy teddies were delivered for young patients attending the unit. The donation was gratefully received by staff, providing a small but welcome source of comfort for children and families during what can often be a difficult time.

Additionally, on Thursday 4th December, a visit took place at Queensbridge Primary School in Farnworth, following the award of a grant towards specialist outdoor equipment for pupils. Those attending included David Blanshard, Michael Greenhalgh (taking on the role of Father Christmas), Julie Ward, and George Johnson. David Blanshard also generously donated soft toys for the children, helping to make the visit an enjoyable and memorable morning.

These visits reflect the practical and personal ways in which Masonic charity continues to support individuals, schools, and community organisations across the Western Area.
