The annual Charity Stewards Walk took place on Sunday September 18th. The Tolkien Trail starts at Hurst Green, past Stonyhurst College and on to the river Hoder at Cromwell’s Bridge before winding its way to the finish at the Shireburn Arms Hotel in Hurst Green. The intrepid explorers, led by WBro Duncan Holmes and his wife Mary, assembled on a wonderfully sunny and warm day, and set off in convoy on their adventure. Once they reached Cromwell’s Bridge well earned refreshments were taken before they continued on their journey through the idyllic Ribble Valley countryside towards the finishing point back in Hurst Green.
All the walkers really enjoyed their day and all raised well earned sponsorship money which will support the Charity Stewards Fund which will subsequently be passed on to local causes. The final sum will be reported once it has been collected.
Over recent months brethren have also assisted at events at the East Lancashire Hospice, the Hope Centre in Oswaldtwistle as well as marshalling the car park at Blackburn Rovers home matches.
