On a cold and frosty Sunday morning (January 19th) 25 Freemasons and Partners from across the East Ribble District gathered at Great Harwood to assist in the marshalling of the annual Accrington 10k run on behalf of East Lancashire Hospice.

The Provincial Trailer had already been set up as the main marshalling point where the volunteers were briefed and given their respective marshalling points.

Before setting out into the countryside some of the Brethren took advantage of the popup barbeque which had conveniently been set up next to the trailer, for a late breakfast of bacon and sausage sandwiches.

With the volunteers well fed and in position, the roads closed and the runners warmed up, the adult race was started followed soon afterwards with the junior event.
The eventual winner came in in just over 30 minutes and the remaining 450 runners following in a steady stream behind.

This event attracts runners from across the North West and with their sponsorship and donations the East Lancashire Hospice hope to raise between £15/16,000

Thanks to all the Brethren for their help and especially in delivering setting up and breaking down the trailer.
