Personal 60th Celebration of WBro Michael Lucas PProDepGSwdB

It was a very special evening for Roch Valley Lodge on Wednesday 25th January as they celebrated the personal 60th Anniversary in Freemasonry of WBro Michael Lucas PProDepGSwdB
After opening in due form, the Lodge was pleased to receive the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, VWBro Derek N Thornhill , PGSwdB accompanied by a Provincial Deputation.
A presentation was delivered by the Lodge Secretary WBro John Hall PProDepGReg, who gave an account of Michael’s life in Freemasonry. He noted that Michael was first initiated into a Durham Lodge in 1956 and became a joining member of Roch Valley Lodge in 1971, rising to WM in 1978.  As a keen organist Michael had spent many years as organist at Roch Valley Lodge and also at Probity and Freedom Chapter.
The Assistant Provincial Grand Master WBro Peter Hewitt PSGD gave an over view of Michael’s teaching career and work outside Freemasonry which included playing an important part in musical education through his work with the Royal College of Music.
The Deputy Provincial Grand Master then gave a very entertaining account of life in 1956 before reading a letter from the RWPGM Sir David Trippier and presenting Michael with a richly decorated illuminated Certificate.  Michael was then paraded around the Lodge to great acclaim by all present.

Before closing the Lodge Rochdale District Chairman WBro Peter Rhodes PPJGW presented Michael with a lapel badge marking 60 years of service to Freemasonry
