The Assistant Provincial Grand Master, WBro John Pearson, welcomed the Provincial Grand Master Sir David Trippier and the Civic Mayor of Tameside, Councilor Phillip Fitzpatrick, to Stanley House Function Rooms on Friday 30th March to the annual Southern Area Charity Giving Night.
All donations pledged during the Masonic season by lodges, chapters and other degrees, were handed to the respective charities.
The evening was expertly compered by John Cavanagh encouraging each Charity to give a brief synopsis on how the money received was being applied.
Some of those receiving donations included The Friends of Tameside Hospital, The Friends of Ecclesholme, Rubiens Retreat, The Sea Cadets, The Scouts, Droylsden Girls football team, Macmillan Cancer research, Hewlett Court retirement home, The Believe and Achieve trust, along with many more.
Throughout the evening TLC bears were sold by Holly. Tender Loving Care Bears are given to all children admitted to local hospitals. The bears are donated by Masons. Holly was one of the first recipients to receive a bear.
The evening was well attended with a total of £41,144 being handed over to the charities, contributing to an amazing total accumulated over 10 years of £500,000.
