East Ribble District recently restocked Royal Blackburn Hospital’s Accident and Emergency Department with Teddies for Loving Care, or TLC.
Well over a million teddies have now been provided by many Masonic provinces to A & E departments across the country since its inception in 2001.
The teddies are given to children in A&E who are suffering from trauma, injury or illness. The medical staff use the teddies to befriend the children, and to reward them for being brave, and in some cases they demonstrate the procedure that they are going to perform on the teddy first.
The East Lancashire Trust and Me Fundraising Manager Mrs Denise Gee commented “Thank you for the donation. Being admitted to A&E can be a stressful experience for all different reasons, but receiving a teddy from a friendly member of staff can help make things that bit easier”
