The Clitheroe Food Festival on the 12th August, was a superb opportunity to open up Clitheroe Masonic Rooms for members of the public to have a look and learn a little more about Freemasonry. Brethren from Clitheroe Lodges manned the rooms and were kept busy with up to 100 interested people visiting. some of these will be attending the up coming white table event which will give them a further insight by experiencing a full evening of Freemasonry. There was also a prospective new joining a Brother from the US who is returning from the Middle East and settling in Clitheroe and currently a member of a Scottish Lodge. The visitors were also well looked after by the wives of the Brethren who supplied them with refreshments including a range of home made cakes.
Our Assistant Provincial Grand Master WBro John Farrington PSGD was also in attendance and had the pleasure of cutting the tercentenary cake commemorating 300 years of Freemasonry. He was assisted by The Mayor of Clitheroe Mrs Maureen Fenton and her consort and daughter Rebecca Fenton. The Ribble Valley Mayor Mr Richard Bennett and the Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans also paid the Lodges a visit during the day.
As an added bonus there was a spectacular fly past by the Red Arrows on their way to Blackpool Airshow. A wonderful day with lots of great food and many people interested in Freemasonry!
