On the evening of February 6th, 2024, Salford Masonic Hall buzzed with excitement as participants gathered for a memorable event – Tomo’s Big Quiz Night 2. With the aim of supporting the 2026 Festival, this gathering promised an evening filled with friendly competition, intellectual challenges, and, of course, delicious food.

Hosted by the charismatic Steve Thompson and skilfully managed by Tony Stephenson as the score master, the atmosphere was electric from the start. Teams, comprising up to six participants each, arrived eager to put their knowledge to the test and contribute to a worthy cause.

Laughter filled the room as teams deliberated over answers, and good-natured banter ensued. Some questions sparked debate, with a few contentious decisions made over spelling – a testament to the competitive spirit and passion of the participants.

As the evening progressed, appetites were satisfied with a hearty Pie & Peas supper. Energised and refuelled, teams dove back into the quiz, determined to outwit their opponents and claim the coveted title of quiz champions.

In the end, it was the Levellers United who emerged victorious, showcasing the power of teamwork and collaboration. Combining forces as an amalgamation of two teams who had had some dropouts, they proved that unity is indeed the winning formula.

However, the true triumph of the evening extended beyond the winners’ circle. Thanks to the generosity and support of all involved, a remarkable £340 was raised for the East Lancashire 2026 Festival.
