On Tuesday the 14th of November 2017 the Lodge of Unity and Friendship celebrated 50 years of Freemasonry. On the night, WBro Luke Sinclair Hanson was Installed into the chair of King Solomon for the second time in 8178.
The representative of the RWPGM was WBro Steve Barton PAGDC, congratulated the Worshipful Master and the officers for the work carried out in the Lodge, and said that he had thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
The Lodge was also very pleased to welcome WBro David Lightbown PAGDC, East Ribble District Chairman this being his last visit in that Office. He was also accompanied by several other District Officers.
At the festive board WBro Lightbown was presented with a bottle of whiskey from the Lodge (and his own personal Hi-Viz jacket!) for all the work he has done over the last five and a half years in the District and all the support he has given to the Lodge.
WBro Mike Stubbs PProvSGD, District Charity Steward was presented with a replenishment of new Hi-Viz vests for the district volunteers, the second such kind donation from the Lodge which has kept our teams of volunteers safe (and highly visible!) during the many charitable community initiatives during the last few years.
To finish off the evening, WBro Ray Fairwood gave an interesting talk on the founding members of the lodge which included two founders who both went on to be Provincial Grand Masters of the Mark Degree, WBro George Gray PJGD and WBro Fred Kemp PJGD.
