WBro Harold Cooper receives the Salver from WBro Malcolm Worsley

On a damp, grey morning of the 12thOctober at Breightmet Golf Club, the East Lancashire Masonic Golf Society held its annual competition for the Jimmy Hemsley Salver. 16 hardy (foolhardy perhaps) brethren braved the wet and windy conditions to compete for this much cherished trophy.
The winner of the Salver was WBro Harold Cooper who used his local knowledge, being a member of Breightmet Golf Club. Runner-up was WBro Howard Berry.

After the competition, the Society held its AGM which was chaired by WBro Malcolm Worsley. WBro Worsley welcomed the Brethren to the AGM and thanked those who had taken part in the prevailing conditions.
WBro Worsley reviewed the Society’s activities for the year. Although the numbers taking part in the 3 main events were a little lower than in 2017, the Treasurer has recommended that the Society makes a donation of £500 to the ELMC.
After presenting the Jimmy Hemsley Salver, he also presented the Arthur Axford Trophy to WBro Howard Berry who had defeated WBro Stephen White in the final of this knock-out competition which runs throughout summer.

Also at the AGM, it was announced that WBro Gerry Hodson was standing down as Secretary of the Society. WBro Worsley expressed his and the Society’s gratitude to Gerry for the very many years he had served the Society. In recognition of his services, a presentation was made to WBro Hodson.
